I forgot to add this to last week's Church News - So here is Pastor Alan's Video from 21 June 2020.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
In these short few verses you might think it is strange that the person who has offered to help is getting a a stern response. Is not this brother just offering to help this poor brother who has something in his eye. However, with God it is all about what is going on in the heart. The first two verses of Matthew 7 is all about judging others. I surmise that the person mention here is also struggling and rather than dealing with the problem he has got, he is more concerned about pointing out the issue with others. God is concerned about helping the person with speck in eye but the person who is doing the helping must be doing it with the right heart. Being humble is an important quality in our walk with Jesus. Paul writes in his letter to the Romans that we all have fallen short of the Glory of God. None of us are perfect, not of us have everything together. However if we are humble and not look to point out the faults of others (i.e. judging others) the Bible says that the Lord will lift you up. (James 4:10). The amount of conflict in the world today could be resolved if everyone remembers this parable. First deal with your plank before trying to get the speck out of others.
We are looking to start an online Bible study for those that would like to connect with the Bible. Each week a new set of material will be available for you to study at a time suitable for you. Then once a month we will get together to discuss what you have gleamed from your study.
You will be created an ACC G-suite account to access the material. If you are interested sign up here.
This week you will be able to sign up and we look to start the first week on Sunday 7th June 2020.
